ProgramsChild-Focused Development: Family-Income Generation

Sustainable Livelihoods

CCF-Sri Lanka conducts vocational training for youth to develop their marketable skills. Raffie, 22, received training on cell phone repair. “ My earnings are sufficient and I can help look after my family.  I'm supporting my brothers and sisters, who are still in school,” Raffie said.
Breaking the cycle of poverty is a key issue in all CCF development efforts.  CCF feels that asset building and community development are essential tools in fighting poverty and helping families become financially secure.  By enabling families to better provide for their children and ultimately achieve economic independence, CCF is not only responding to the immediate needs of children but helping them secure a better future.

CCF takes a three-pronged approach to micro-enterprise development, including business development services, providing financial services for the poor, and employment preparation activities for youth and vulnerable groups.

How CCF Helps

Business Development Services – This includes a range of activities that help vulnerable families increase their income through improved business practices and the acquisition of new and refined vocational or technical skills.  These activities allow them to engage in a family based income producing activity like livestock farming and agricultural production.

Financial Services For The Disadvantaged – Access to financial services is the most important aspect of our micro-credit and savings program.  Through the provision of access to financial services, families, primarily women, are able to take part in savings programs for themselves and their children.  Furthermore, they are able to acquire loans that help them to start or expand their economic activity.

Employment Preparation Activities for Youth and Vulnerable Groups  -   These activities provide youth and other vulnerable groups with strategies for entry into a livelihood that will make them part of the economically active community.  CCF links Youth to opportunities through apprenticeships and vocational trainings.  This includes tailored business and skills training, interview techniques and skill development, and linkages to employment providers.
